What Should We Pay Attention to Our Aquarium When Weather is Hot?

The weather is hot now so it's a high bacterial growth period. Usually, the nitrification system in our aquarium is balanced. If you add new fishes that are probably not completely sterilized in your fish tank, it might cause the cross-infection of the virus in the fish tank. The virus outbreak might happen in our tank. Once the nitrification system breaks down, fishes will die gradually. Therefore, try not to add new fish, especially large fish in summer.

As the weather is hot and water in the aquarium is always at a high temperature, algae and viruses in water and the food residue will make the water smell bad easily and damage water quality. Replacing new water in the aquarium is very necessary. We need to make sure that there are at least about one-fifth of the new water is replaced every three days, then the nitrification system in the aquarium will not break down easily. There is not much new water needed to be replaced, so it is easy to maintain our aquarium's nitrification system and water quality.

If you feed your fishes too much fish food, fishes can't finish all of this food. As weather is hot, the rest fish food will ferment quickly in one or two hours, polluting the aquarium water and making it smelly. This provides nutrition to the algae, the algal bloom will happen. Therefore, we need to avoid overfeeding our fishes.

Besides, turning on the
fish tank air pump valve is also important. Nitrifying bacteria need enough oxygen to survive. It plays a key role in the nitrification system. Last but not least, in order to provide fishes a healthy growth environment, we need to trim aquatic plants in the fish tank ever and again. If we don’t trim our plants in the tank, when the sun is sufficient, the water will produce too much oxygen. Then bubbles will adhere to fishes, which may cause skin diseases like skin to fester to fishes.
