Ingenious use of aquarium divider panels
There is a plan for the bottom filter partition of aquarium divider panels that I think is better.
Generally speaking, the bottom filter can be divided into 3 bins or 4 bins. The order of the filter material is: the first bin, the upper and lower wet and dry separation, the lower can be the bacteria house, ceramic ring, glass ring, fish tank filter balls, etc., (You can choose one kind or use them together); the second bin; bacteria house, ceramic ring, glass ring, filter ball, etc. (You can choose one or use them together); the third bin, if it is the last bin, you can put pumps and heating rods, if not, can also place in a bacterial house, etc.; but in the end, you need to leave a grid to put the pump and heating rods.
The following figures are the two common bottom filter cylinder divider panels schemes (taking 3 tanks as an example). I personally think that the second scheme is better.
At present, there are two common sub-bin divide panels schemes for bottom filter cylinders, from right to left in order: filter cotton, filter material, water pump
First of all, no matter what kind of plan, double partitions are used between the first warehouse and the second warehouse. The main advantages are as follows:
1. The double baffle plate can maintain the water level of 1 silo and avoid the filter material being exposed to the water surface. If the dry and wet separation is not set on the first silo, then the first silo needs to prevent physical filter media such as filter cotton.
It is better to not immerse the physical filter media in water. If the wet and dry separation is installed and only the biochemical filter material is placed in the first silo, it is necessary to use double partitions to maintain the water level.
2. Increase the water level difference between the first and second bins of the double baffle to make the water flow faster and easier to pass. The oxygen and the "food" for the decomposition of nitrifying bacteria will be reduced if the water flow is too slow.
3. Raise the water level difference of the double partitions, form a small waterfall when the first warehouse enters the second warehouse, and increase the dissolved oxygen.
This feature is important. Although it does not change the total dissolved oxygen of the entire tank, it only moves the dissolved oxygen of the first tank to the second tank. However, it is important to change this position. The second tank is biochemical filtration. It is always beneficial to add oxygen before water entering the second warehouse.
4. Double divider panels can carry the sediment at the bottom of the first warehouse to the top of the second warehouse. A physical filter can be added on the top of the second silo, such as placing 1-2 layers of filter cotton to facilitate the removal of sediment.
According to the experience of the majority of people, even if the physical filtration is done well, after a long period of use, many sediments will appear at the bottom of the silo. Use double divider panels, and place the bottom filter separator at the bottom of the silo, form empty space at the bottom of the warehouse to facilitate the frequent cleaning of the warehouse bottom.
