How to Keep Shrimps in Shrimp Tank?

Keeping some aquatic pets at home not only increases the fun of life, but also plays a very good role in decorating the home. Today we would like to share with you how to keep shrimps in tank.

It is not easy to keep shrimps in tank. Keeping shrimps is far more complicated than keeping fishes because shrimps have higher living requirements. We need to prepare ourselves mentally before keeping shrimps, as this requires more energy and time.

To keep shrimps, firstly you need to prepare a good living environment for them. It mainly includes shrimp tanks, water, feed,
aquarium filter and so on.

The first thing to do is to choose a suitable shrimp tank. It should be noted that the smaller the shrimp tank is, the more difficult it is to control the water quality. Therefore, it is recommended to select shrimp tanks with a length of more than 12cm. After preparing the shrimp tank, it must be cleaned and installed, and equipped with a filtration system. Use the
fish aquarium cleaning tools can help us to clean the shrimp tank easily and effectively.

The second step is to prepare the water suitable for shrimps to survive. Culture nitrifying bacteria in shrimp water before putting shrimps into the tank. If you use tap water as shrimp tank water, you should put a basin of tape water under the sun for getting rid of chlorine. Keep the pH of the water between 5.5 and 6.8, never above 7, otherwise, the shrimp will be poisoned.

After the above two steps are prepared, shrimps can be placed in the shrimp tank. Feeding should be paid high attention as well. When we feed shrimps, do not feed them too much, otherwise, redundant feed will easily contaminate the water in the shrimp tank. Shrimp feed is generally divided into plant feed and animal feed. Animal feed is more likely to contaminate water easily, so it usually is fed to shrimps before changing the water.

The last thing that we need to notice is changing the water. If the water in the shrimp tank reaches a balanced level and is healthy enough, we suggest you do not need to change water for now. If you assume it is time to change the water, you can change one-third of the water in shrimp tank first in order to keep a good water condition.
