How to deal with the aquarium thermometer broken in the fish tank?

Some water thermometers are similar to our previous thermometers. There is only a small suction cup on the upper part, and the bottom is a pure glass thermometer. The water temperature meter is filled with dyed kerosene. Once the suction cup of the water thermometer is loose, it will fall to the bottom of the tank. If the water level of the fish tank is high, the water thermometer with bad quality will break directly.

So, if there is such a thermometer at home, what if the suction cup falls off one day and the thermometer bursts and there are fish in our fish tank?
Generally speaking, the kerosene contained in a thermometer does not cause serious water pollution to the entire fish tank. Most ornamental fish is tolerable unless the tank is too small.

Even if we have encountered this situation, there are several ways to solve it:
1. Immediately pump the bottom to change the water
Kerosene fell at the bottom of the tank at the beginning. If there is no impact on the water flow, they will not float up at once. At this time, we can quickly turn off the equipment that easily stirs the water flow, such as filters and oxygen pumps, then find a small water pipe and quickly pump the bottom to change the water. You only need to clean the kerosene that remains on the bottom of the fish tank. kerosene is dropped by a drop in the water, which is very easy to extract.
2. Adsorption with oil-absorbing paper
Once the water flow in the fish tank is large, the kerosene will be stirred up by the water flow and quickly float to the surface of the fish tank. At this time, the kerosene will not be scattered, and will still float on the water drop by drop, then we can use oil absorption paper, toilet paper, facial tissue, etc. directly put on the surface of the water, and then gently pick it up, the kerosene will adhere to it.
In addition, you can change the water in a small amount. If there is a fish tank cover, you must open the cover to ventilate and put out the odor. In a short time, these kerosene odors can be eliminated.
Finally, there is a way to use a relatively fine fishnet, which is also easy to drip the kerosene, and the effect is still very good. The kerosene on the water will be cleaned up in a few consecutive times.
In fact, the most accurate water thermometer is still old-fashioned kerosene. If the quality is good, the error is almost insignificant. There is also instrument type, and the electronic water thermometer, basically these three types.

If you are raising ordinary ornamental fish and the requirements for the water temperature error are not strict, then the old-fashioned water thermometers and instrument-type water thermometers can be used. Some old-fashioned water thermometers have good glass quality and will not be easily broken.

If you are raising aquarium fish with high requirements for water temperature error, it is best to be equipped with two thermometers, one ordinary and one electronic, they can be compared with each other, especially the electronic thermometer, if the use time is too long, the battery inside may be dead, which will affect our judgment.

The thermometer seems cheap and inconspicuous, but in the process of feeding ornamental fish, the thermometer may be the most important thing for raising all ornamental fish, and sometimes it is more important than the filter, so we must choose carefully.
Finally, the water thermometer in the fish tank must be far away from the heating tube to avoid uneven heating.
