How to Choose a Fish Tank?

How to Choose a Fish Tank?

Friends who like to raise fish at home will want to buy a high-quality fish tank. Because the fish tank is not like a small tank, you can spend a little money to replace it if it is out of order. So here comes the question, if we want to buy a fish tank, what should we pay attention to?

In fact, it is nothing more than the following three points:

1. Fishtank material selection

The choice of fish tank material is actually the choice of glass. Now there are two types of glass used in fish tanks—float glass and ultra-white glass.

Float glass is made of quartz sandstone powder, dolomite, and other raw materials. Good raw materials make the glass be pure and have the characteristics of good transparency, easy to cut as well as not easy to break.

Ultra-white glass is a kind of ultra-transparent low-iron glass, which not only has all the processabilities of float glass but also has better light transmittance than that of float glass. It is also called high transparent glass with its light transmittance reaching more than 91.5%.

These two kinds of glass are mainly different in light transmittance and price. Generally speaking, the more expensive one is ultra-white glass, through which one can admire the fish clearer, the cheaper one is float glass, which has a lower transmittance. The fish tank of all ultra-white glass is certainly more comfortable to admire, but if the budget is not enough, we can use ultra-white glass for the viewing surface and float glass for the rest surface.

2. Fish tank size selection

The choice of fish tank size is mainly determined by the size of the position to place the fish tank at home and the fish species to be kept. If the position of the fish tank is large enough and the economic conditions are allowed, try to choose a large fish tank size.

Most specifications of general household tanks are between 1.5-2.0 meters in length and 0.65-0.8 meters in width. Especially if you are going to raise large fish, it is best to choose the maximum that you can afford and settle it in one step.

3.
Fish tank filter selection

The filtration system includes an upper filter, bottom filter, filter barrel, side filter, and back filter, etc. Large fish has mostly used bottom filters, and a small number of experienced enthusiasts prefer to use filters or drip boxes. The bottom filter is to place the filter tank below the fish tank, that is, in the bottom cabinet, which provides the maximum space for the filter material, so its processing capacity is the strongest, which is conducive to the cultivation of nitrifying bacteria and offers the best aesthetics.
