Estimated reading period: 5-6 minutes
Article words: 925

Crystal shrimp has been popular in recent years. What kind of charm does the crystal shrimp have? How could it become so popular? That's mainly because of its delicate body and bright color create a unique view in the planted shrimp tank. The beautiful combination of green, red and white colors attracts people's attention and makes people love it. Crystal shrimp is very ornamental. Their feeding, flying, cuddling and gathering to form a "shrimp blanket" behaviors make them look fascinating. Regarding the keeping of crystal shrimps, the following points need to be noted.

1.Feeding
Shrimp is an omnivorous creature. Its feed includes grain, flakes, red worms, brine shrimp, moss, algae, aquatic plants, minerals in the mud, special food for freshwater shrimps and organic vegetables. Crystal shrimps love to eat kelp or boiled spinach as well. You can feed them these one or two times a week. If your crystal shrimps refuse to eat, the water quality may be contaminated and it is necessary to change the water quickly. Crystal shrimp will also eat minerals in the mud, so adding mud in the shrimp tank will be more suitable for their growth. The main food for juvenile shrimps is green algae, moss, and microorganisms in the water.

Crystal shrimp requires comprehensive nutrition, which is of great help to its hair color and reproduction. Crystal shrimp feed is rich in multivitamins, minerals and succulent, which can help optimize the appearance of crystal shrimp, shorten the breeding cycle, and provide strong protection for the growth of crystal shrimp. Especially when the crystal shrimps hold the eggs, it can not only improve the quality of the eggs but also increase the survival rate of the eggs. Therefore, crystal shrimp feed can enhance the adaptability of crystal shrimp and help them enhance their physical fitness. As shrimp feed is easy to flow away and is not easy to be collected, you’d better use a
Glass Shrimp Feeding Dish to feed them, which can prevent water pollution and will not affect your aquarium decoration. Keeping crystal shrimp also requires the addition of probiotics and microorganisms because they balance water quality and optimize their living environment. They can regulate the gastrointestinal function of crystal shrimp and promote their absorption of nutrients. At the same time, by increasing the microbial content in the water, such as bacteria, trichomoniasis, and other microorganisms, they can help decompose harmful substances in the water and balance water quality. In addition, it can decompose food residue and excrement, reduce the number of water changes, reduce the load of the water filter, and keep the water clean.

2.Temperature
Crystal shrimp cannot adapt to high-temperature environments. The optimum temperature for them is between 22-24 °C. Make sure to control the water temperature well. Because every one degree of temperature reduction will increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. That is to say, keeping crystal shrimp at low temperatures will contribute to their extension of life. When the crystal shrimps are breeding, temperature can be increased by 1-2 °C. The most suitable temperature for hatching is 25 ° C. Please do not let the temperature higher than 28 ° C. If the temperature is over 28 ° C, shrimps will not hold their eggs and their colors will fade. Try to use this Digital Aquarium and Indoor Thermometer! It has an easy to read with large LCD display, 2 model change: ℉ or ℃ and have a strong sticker on the back, just need to stick it on the outer of the aquarium.

3.Water Quality
If you want your crystal shrimps to look good, the most important thing is water quality. To maintain the shrimp tank pH between 6.2 to 6.8 and the KH in between 1-2. For maintaining good water quality, it is necessary to reduce the amount of harmful substances ammonia in the water. In the condition of a weak acid and soft water, crystal shrimps shell frequently, grow fast and have clean color. In the condition of a weak acid and hard water, it is not easy for crystal shrimps to shell, their growth is slow and has thick colors. In their general growth state, crystal shrimp requires hard water, that is, water with a hardness level of more than 8, such as mineral water, tap water, surface water and groundwater in nature. This is because crystal shrimp need to absorb minerals or vitamins in the water so that its colors will look better.

4. Equipment
A. Shrimp tank
It is recommended that you choose a shrimp tank that is more than two feet long so that the water does not deteriorate quickly, which is a prerequisite for using the filter.
B. Filter
In general, the bottom filter is used when keeping crystal shrimp. It helps to remove residual baits and excreta from the bottom sand. In addition, changing 1/3 of the water per week, and then adding a set of pneumatic sponge filtration to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen can get twice the result with half the effort
C. Light
The aquarium light is a must-have for aquatic plant crystal shrimps. The light not only makes it easy for people to watch the crystal shrimps but also produces the effect of whitening crystal shrimp, which can keep the shrimp body better.
D. Chiller
Everyone knows that crystal shrimp is not heat-resistant, and the chiller can control the temperature very well, which is very helpful for the growth of crystal shrimp. The chiller can keep the shrimp tank water temperature below 26 °C.
